Audley End is one of the finest examples of Jacobean architecture being the largest mansion in England. The beautiful grounds laid out by Capability Brown are the perfect setting for their ever popular outdoor concerts held during July/August every year.

The gardens themselves are of interest and include an organic garden. Audley End House (English Heritage) is open to the public for most of the year but please enquire directly with their offices for dates and times of concerts and opening times of the House and Gardens.

This beautiful city really does deserve more than one day. To take full advantage of its treasures, we can organise guided tours or book a trip on an open-top bus. Your ticket allows you to break your tour at the many interesting places and viewpoints ... such as the Mathematical Bridge which you see here. From here you can hire a punt (or take a punt trip) on the River Cam which provides interesting views of Cambridge.

If history isn't one of your subjects, then a little retail therapy may be and there is ample opportunity of treating yourself in the main shopping area and in the Grafton Centre undercover shopping area.

Cambridge also boasts two wonderful theatres - The Arts Theatre and The Corn Exchange, both offering a whole host of famous names in many varied shows.

World Famous Cambridge University
A trip around the Backs to view these beautifully presented colleges is an absolute must.

If you are attending a Graduation, we are able to offer a taxi from the Hotel to the College and the return trip to enable you to celebrate in style in our private dining room or a table in our two-rosette Le Paradis Restaurant to make your special evening complete.

The Imperial War Museum is based at the wartime airfield at Duxford and situated on the other side of the M11 just a few minutes drive away from our hotel. The collection of aircraft is the biggest in Europe and will take you a whole day to see.

The Imperial War Museum is open all year round, with the exception of 24th, 25th, & 26th December but the highlights of the year are their now world famous air days.

Why not come along and have lunch at the Hotel or in the grounds and watch the aeroplanes of yesteryear perform. Booking essential.

Interested in the Vulcan? Avro Vulcan XH558 is the world's ONLY flying example of one of Britain's finest iconic aircraft, the Vulcan Bomber. It is equal in popularity to the Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster but, whilst examples of the latter three are kept flying by the RAF in the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, it is only the generosity of ordinary people which keeps the Vulcan in the air.

Visit and check when this plane can next be viewed at a Duxford display and how you can help ensure it continues to fly to amaze future generations.

Just twenty minutes away, you will enjoy a day here in the town or at the races. The National Horseracing Museum is also well worth a visit.

By booking early you can enjoy a pre-meeting lunch or celebratory dinner in our Le Paradis Restaurant. For evening and afternoon meetings, perhaps your party may like an early supper.

The Mediaeval town of Saffron Walden lies in the north-west corner of Essex and just 15 minutes from Duxford.

Its warren of largely unspoilt streets lead to such attractions as not one but two mazes - one on the Common and one planted in the 1850s in Bridge End Gardens that is a copy of the one at Hampton Court.

The beautiful Church of St Mary's, the largest in Essex, is visible from many parts of this wonderful market town and visitors from the 1500s would recognise many of the imposing buildings in their original glory.

Thaxted, in its earlier years, was a prosperous centre of the cutlery and wool trades and it was in the magnificent Horsham Hall that for some time Elizabeth I resided before becoming Queen.

The picture on the right shows the home of Dick Turpin, the one time notorious highwayman who was later hanged in York.

Quite near the parish church of St John the Baptist with its 55 metre tower and with architecture worthy of a cathedral setting sits John Webb's Windmill at the end of Fishmarket Street. The main machinery is intact and all five floors are accessible to visitors.
